Perry Hoshor Talbott (b. 5 Feb 1827) married Isabella 'Belle' McFarland (b. 2 Feb 1833). They were married on 13 Apr 1854 in Page County, Iowa. They settled in White Cloud Township, Nodaway County, Missouri.
Perry Talbott was a physician, like his father. He was also an outspoken orator, author and newspaper publisher, and served in the Missouri state legislature.
Like his father-in-law had done in Ohio, he purchased extensive land and laid out a new town on it. He named the town "Arkoe", from text in a book he had on his shelf: it meant a place of placid water, like the river running alongside his main property and home. He named a street for his Talbott family, and other streets for his wife Belle and their first child Olivia.
- Note: Perry Hoshor Talbott and Belle (McFarland) Talbott have their own page in our Family Gallery.
Perry and Belle (McFarland) Talbott had twelve children.
Our family is descended from their second child, their daughter: Ianthe Talbott (1856-1880).
In the Talbott family's eighth generation in America, we are descended from the marriage of Ianthe Talbott and her husband William Thomas Shore.
Ianthe Talbott was born in 1856, in Arkoe (White Cloud Township), Nodaway County, Missouri.
She married William Thomas Shore on 5 Oct 1873, in Nodaway County, Missouri. He is the son of John Shore and Mary Ann (Brandenburg) Shore, and was born on 16 Apr 1846.
- Note: Ianthe (Talbott) Shore and William Thomas Shore have their own page in our Family Gallery.
William Shore and Ianthe (Talbott) Shore settled at La Fayette Village, Stark County, Illinois. They had two children:
- Albertus Arthur Shore (1874-1928), who settled in Tarkio, Atchison County, Missouri.
- Jesse Perry Shore (1877-1950), who settled in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
Jesse Perry Shore was most likely named for his grandfather, Perry Hoshor Talbott.
Our family is descended from the marriage of Jesse Perry Shore and Anna (Gaffney) Shore.
