The Last Will and Testament of Richard Talbott
I Richard Talbott of the Province of Maryland and in the County of Ann Arundell Scituating in West River Planter, being of good and perfect memory Do Constitute ordain and appoint this my last Will and Testament in manner as followeth. I do give and bequeath unto my Eldest Son Richard this Seat of Land I now live upon (called Poplar Knowle) with a piece of Land Lying on the South Side of the South Brancehand on the South side of the West river (called Talbots timber neck) but in Case John Balding refuses it, then it to be as aforesaid- I do also give and bequeath unto my other two Sonnes Edwd and John all that parcell of Land being three hundred acres (called Talbots Ridge) only Edwd to have his first Choice. Provided that he begin at Eigher End, and If Either of them Shall dye before they come to age then his or their part to be equally divided by the other two. I also give and bequeath unto my Son and Daughter Elizabeth three cowes to be for thier use and benefitt. Namely the Cow called Spott and Pyes Heifer, and young Gentle, with their increase male and female, to be tendred before Evidence for their use immediately, after my decease but to remain with their mother till they come to age, the Boy att Twenty one and the Girle at sixteene or day of Marriage- The Cattle which were give to my Eldest Sonnes Richard and Edward by their Grandfather, I do give them all the Male Cattell which shall hereafter be of the said Cattle. I do also give unto my Wife the use of my Plantation I now live on; so long as she liveth, but in Case she marry - then to have it till he cometh to age. I do also constitute ordain and appoint my loveing Wife my true and lawful Executor as witness my hand and seall the 21 day of the 2d month called Aprill 1663.
